Clinical background
Trained in continuity, not episodes
Dr. Shaima Alshareef holds the Saudi Board in Family Medicine and practises as a consultant. Family medicine trains a physician to see the whole person across time — the same patient at twenty-five and at sixty, through pregnancies, illnesses, work stress and family change.
That long view is the foundation of everything else in her practice. Risk rarely appears suddenly; it accumulates. Seeing it accumulate is what makes early intervention possible.
Philosophy of care
Evidence, applied to a real life
Her approach is deliberately unglamorous: understand the person's context, identify what is genuinely modifiable, and change it in a way that survives contact with real life — work, family, travel, culture and food.
Plans are built to be sustainable rather than impressive. Where the evidence is strong, it is followed closely. Where it is uncertain, that uncertainty is said out loud.
Longevity & lifestyle medicine
From treating disease to protecting function
Lifestyle medicine gives structure to the levers that matter most: nutrition, physical activity, sleep, stress and resilience, social connection, and avoiding harmful substances. Longevity medicine adds the question of trajectory — where is this person heading over the next twenty years, and what changes that direction?
In practice this means treating metabolic health as a system, measuring function as well as disease, and acting during the long, quiet window before a diagnosis is available.
Leadership
Building longevity services in Jeddah
As director of a longevity department in Jeddah, Dr. Shaima works on the harder half of prevention: turning it into an organised clinical service with defined pathways, measurement and follow-through, rather than advice given at the end of an appointment.
That work involves clinical protocol design, multidisciplinary collaboration, and patient education that people can actually act on.
Speaking & thought leadership
Translating the evidence
She speaks and writes on longevity, prevention, metabolic health and lifestyle medicine for both clinical and public audiences, in Arabic and English — with a consistent emphasis on what the evidence supports today rather than what sounds compelling.

Vision 2030 alignment
Prevention and quality of life
Saudi Vision 2030 places clear emphasis on prevention, quality of life and healthier communities. Dr. Shaima's clinical work shares that direction: proactive rather than reactive care, healthspan alongside lifespan, and health literacy that lets people make informed decisions. This reflects a shared set of priorities and does not imply any official endorsement or affiliation.
